During the 1st Anniversary of the Train ceremony in Chetumal, the president highlighted that this railway project showed that the privatization of the railways in our country was “one of the most costly mistakes for the people of Mexico,” she said.
For this reason, President Sheinbaum indicated that the Mayan Train means social justice, because it provides well-being and development with justice for the communities and towns of the Mexican southeast.
“The Mayan Train is a symbol of the Fourth Transformation of public life in Mexico, it represents an economic model, a new thought, which tells the world that in Mexico there is a conscious people,” he highlighted.
In his speech, the commander of the Felipe Ángeles group of engineers, Gustavo Vallejo Suárez, commented that the Secretariat of National Defense has built works in the southeast, such as the Felipe Carrillo Puerto airport, 43 National Guard facilities and hotels, for this reason Next year the construction of the 10 cargo terminals for the Mayan Train will begin.
Also, the general director of the Mayan Train, Oscar Lozano, highlighted that with the construction of the Train, 600 thousand jobs were generated, and almost 700 thousand people have traveled on it.

Meanwhile, Lozano celebrated the launch, by the Mexican Postal Service, of the Mayan Train commemorative stamp, which reflects the greatness of military engineering, as well as the vision and objective of the project.
