Great honor. Shimon Mizrahi, chairman of Maccabi Tel Aviv in basketball, is nominated for the James Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. The name of the Yellows president, who has been in office since the summer of 1969, has been included in a list published by the management of the Hall of Fame and the NBA. This is the fourth time he has been nominated and he may be the first Israeli to enter the Hall of Fame.
Shimon Mizrahi’s candidacy is in the category selected by an international committee and he may enter as a donor, who by definition “contributed significantly to the game of basketball.” Other nominees in this category include the late coach Dusan Ivkovic, Alfonso Ford, Radiboy Korac, Marcus Leita, Dan Patterson and Manuel Saines. Other categories are contribution to the game, veteran men, veteran women, African-American pioneers and of course North American players.
