The controversy centers on the fifth episode of Blood Game X, released by Wavve. The installment introduced the “day of plunder” event, a 2-on-2 alliance match governed by a stark mandate: teams had to use any means necessary to secure or protect funds hidden inside a mansion safe.
Operating under a 60-minute time limit, the external team targeted the mansion’s safe while the internal team worked to block them. Shin Seung-yong, positioned on the internal defense, intercepted fleeing contestants and quickly drew sharp criticism for extreme physical force. During one scramble, outside team member Seo Chul-gu used a fake money bag as a decoy. Shin pulled forcefully on the pouch.
Seo had wrapped a string around his hand to prevent the bag from being ripped away. When Shin applied brute force, the string cut deeply into Seo’s hand, causing a burn injury.
