jpnn.comJAKARTA – The Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) officially fired Shin Tae Yong as coach of the Indonesian National Team.

The figure of the new coach for the Indonesian National Team who will replace Shin Tae Yong will be announced on January 12 2025. According to PSSI General Chair Erick Thohir, the coach, who is said to be from the Netherlands, will be announced to the public, Sunday (12/1), one day after his arrival in Indonesia on Saturday (11/1) evening.

“Later, we will invite all the media to the next press conference on the 12th, at around four in the afternoon. So, if there are media colleagues who want to ask questions and answers with their coaches, just go ahead. Landing on the 11th evening, on the 12th we will give the media the opportunity for questions and answers,” said Erick Thohir at a press conference at Danareksa Tower, Jakarta, Monday (6/1).

Erick said that after the introduction to the public, the new coach’s next agenda was to meet the Indonesian national team players playing domestically. “On the evening of the 12th, there is a plan to hold a meeting of our national team players who play in the Indonesian League to meet the new coach,” said Erik, who is also the BUMN minister.

Next, said Erik, the new coach will meet with the PSSI Executive Committee, the Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Dito Ariotedjo, and visit the facilities usually used by the Garuda team.

“Then the agenda that we will carry out on Sunday and Monday includes meetings with Exco, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, visits to facilities, etc. And we are aiming at the composition of this coach for overall teamwork, he will be accompanied by assistants with high qualifications, so this will be an improvement,” explained the 54 year old man.

Erick stated that the replacement of this coach was partly to fulfill Indonesia’s dream of going to the 2026 World Cup which will be held in the United States, Canada and Mexico. When asked how confident he was with this new coach, Erick said, “Yes, it’s all based on three things. One program is correct, consistent, the coach is also good, the quality of the players must also be good. These are all three that cannot be separated.” (antara/jpnn)
