jpnn.com – JAKARTA – PSSI General Chair Erick Thohir is optimistic that the new coach for the Indonesian National Team will be better than Shin Tae Yong.
Erick on Monday (6/1) announced that PSSI had officially fired Shin Tae Yong.
The position of national team coach will then be given to a new coach who is said to come from the Netherlands.
“Everything is based on three things, namely the program is correct and consistent, then the coach is also good and the quality of the players must also be good. “Those are three things that cannot be separated,” said Erick after a press conference in Jakarta, Monday.
“If the program is only good, the coach is not good, the players are not good, then you can’t bring improvisation to the national team,” he added.
Erick then explained that the choice of a coach from the Netherlands was due to the time duration factor leading up to the next 2026 World Cup qualifying match in the Asian zone which will take place in two and a half months.
“We have to try to maintain dynamics. “Regarding culture and communication, we have to maintain it,” said Erick.
One of Shin Tae Yong’s coaching obstacles is the language factor, because he only masters Korean. This then created obstacles because the players from Indonesia only mastered Indonesian, while the majority of diaspora players communicated in English.
Shi Tae Yong’s position in the Indonesian National Team will then be given to a new coach who is said to be from the Netherlands.
