A ship carrying 26 Indians detained in the African country of Equatorial Guinea has anchored off the coast of Nigeria. The Nigerian Navy is stationed both inside and outside the ship. Vijit V Nair, a resident of Kollam Nilamel on the ship, informed his father over the phone that the officials of the Indian Embassy in Nigeria would arrive. The crew prepared the document to hand over to the embassy. India-Nigeria talks are expected to take place soon. Food and water are on board. Vijit also said that the passport is in the possession of the army.

Meanwhile, Milton Dikotha, a resident of Ernakulam Mulavukad, said in a voice message sent to his wife that the security forces allowed the detainees to go to the cabin of the ship. They were allowed to go to the cabins saying that the mission was completed. Everyone is allowed to use phone and Wi-Fi.

There are 16 Indians and 10 people from Sri Lanka, Poland and the Philippines, including Chief Officer Sanu Jose, who is a native of Wayanad and a resident of Kochi. They were handed over to the Nigerian Navy on Friday. The Equatorial Guinea Navy seized the ship on August 9, accusing it of violating the maritime boundary.
