In the midst of a split in the Nationalist Congress, an appeal was filed by Sarath Pawar and Ajit Pawar in the Election Commission claiming that they owned the party. In this case, the Election Commission has recognized the party led by Ajit Pawar as the real Nationalist Congress. The Election Commission has also approved Ajit Pawar’s use of the clock symbol of the party.

After Shinde broke away from Shiv Sena and joined the BJP alliance, Shinde’s team was given recognition. Similarly, Ajit Pawar, who broke away from the Nationalist Congress and joined the BJP alliance, has now been given recognition. The Election Commission said that Ajit Pawar has the support of party executives and MLAs. The Election Commission has also said that the Sarathpawar team can keep a new name for their party.
