Maccabi Bnei Reina, the newcomer to the Premier League, announced tonight (Thursday) the addition of striker Shlomi Azulai, who played for Hapoel Tel Aviv last season. Azoulay, 32, received an offer from the Reds that was 30 percent lower than his salary last season and chose to sign with the newcomer.
Azoulay, who has another offer from the Premier League and also from the cities of Tiberias (his hometown and his first team) that went up to the national team, reaches the 10th team in his career. At Hapoel Tel Aviv this was his second term, and he has scored eight league goals since joining in January 2021.

“I want to thank Hapoel Tel Aviv, me and my family very much connected to the club,” Azoulay said after signing through his agent Adam Kidan. “There is an amazing crowd and amazing conditions. I enjoyed every moment of the year and a half there, I will always remain a Hapoel fan and I wish them success.”
Another player who is in the sights of the newcomer is midfielder Ruslan Bersky, who played for Hapoel Jerusalem last season. There were already initial talks between the parties.
Earlier, the team announced the signing of striker Benson Shilongo. The 30-year-old is leaving Africa for the first time in his career after playing in the Egyptian league in recent years.
Shilongo is the striker of the Namibian national team, which in the media has scored 9 goals in 34 games. He has previously played for several teams in his homeland and later also in South Africa and Botswana. His last team was the Egyptian Ismaili, where he scored 14 goals in 68 games.
Shilongo’s contract with Ismaili was allowed towards the end of January and he has been without a team since. His last game was in November and Briena will have to put him in shape throughout the summer after such a long time off the pitches.
At the end of last season Benny Reina completed a third league promotion in three seasons, qualifying for the Premier League for the first time. The team will host its home games in the Premier League at Green Stadium in the Galilee landscape.
