The family of Laura Daniela Villamil, the young dancer who suffered severe burns at a show held at the restaurant Andrés Carne de Res, was surprised by the news of the establishment’s closure ordered by the Government. In an interview with Semana, Santiago Villamil, Laura’s brother, expressed his astonishment at President Gustavo Petro’s decision to order the halt of the restaurant’s activities.
“The truth is we did not expect the closure to be so drastic,” he stated. “We thought there would be penalties for the restaurant, but the total closure was a measure that surprised us all.”

The Villamil family had been closely following the investigations and legal actions taken against Andrés Carne de Res, but they had not anticipated such a heavy measure from the Government. “Minister Gloria Inés Ramírez told us about the irregularities found at the restaurant, but we did not imagine the case would have such repercussions,” Santiago added for Semana.
