Famous director GS Panicker passed away today after undergoing treatment for cancer for the past few years. His demise has shocked the film industry.

GS Panicker made his directorial debut in 1976 with his first film ‘Ekakini’. His first film ‘Ekakini’ was directed by M.D. Based on Vasudevan Nair’s short story Garuda Chandran. The film featured Ravi Menon and Shobha in lead roles. He won several awards, including the State Award for Best Film, and garnered praise from all quarters for his debut film.

Apart from this film, Panicker made Sethu’s famous novel ‘Pandavapuram’ as a film. He has also directed a children’s film based on Sreedharamenan’s poem “Sahyanin Magan”. Apart from directing films, he has also produced some films. Panikkar produced the film ‘Midsummer Dreams’ last year in 2018.

Following this, Panicker, who was away from film work, was suffering from cancer for a few years and was being treated for it at a famous private hospital in Chennai.
