Serbia is having trouble digesting the elimination of Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League playoffs against Maccabi Haifa. The host players were lying on the grass at the end and coach Diane Stankovic picked them up one by one. The local media mourned the 2:2 that sent the Serbian champions home.
“Tragedy – Red Star was left without the champions in the 90th minute. She led 0:2 and threw it in the trash, Milan Pavkov is now the anti-hero,” wrote the Serbian ‘Mundo’. The media said that Pavkov cried at the end of the game and his friends tried to comfort him.
Inside such, Alexander Pesic Shach once again scored a goal that was not enough against the greens, he was nervous. The visiting fans teased him on Instagram after the game and he answered one of them with a voice message: “You can fuck me”. Earlier he told the media: “It is hard to digest, the blood boils and we are full of regret. What was missing? Luck, just luck.”
In Serbia, they also wonder about the future of coach Dian Stankovic and estimate that many, many questions will now arise regarding his future: “He is ready to take responsibility”, it says. The one who was criticized was Kanga, who was replaced and was very angry about it: “Scandal in Markana, Kanga got angry and kicked the bench as a substitute”.
The coach of the Red Star was asked at the press conference whether he is afraid that the increase will cost him his job: “Soon we will receive answers to these questions. I am ready to bear any failure of the Red Star and take responsibility. I will really do it from the bottom of my heart, because I did my best.”
The European media were also not indifferent to the drama in Belgrade and the Spanish AS wrote: “The Red Star knocked itself out of the Champions League playoffs in the 90th minute.”
