Kottayam: The owner of a welding workshop was electrocuted while plucking mangoes using an iron scythe. The deceased has been identified as Purushothaman Nair alias Kunjumani, a native of Vaikom Palliprathussery. The accident happened around 4.30 pm on Sunday.
The accident happened while picking mangoes from another tree near Mango. Passengers saw the fire burning from the power line and informed the KSEB authorities but the power supply was cut off but their lives could not be saved.
Firefighters, police and locals pulled the body down. Purushothaman Nair had been conducting a workshop at Mannathanam for many years.
