A shooting at a Florida mall two days before Christmas left multiple people injured, police said. The incident took place at the Paddock Mall in Ocala on Saturday afternoon, with the suspect believed to have fled the scene, according to authorities.
First responders were quick to arrive at the scene, and the mall is currently being evacuated, the Ocala Police Department stated, urging people to avoid the area.
Eyewitness Syriah Williams, 18, recounted the chaotic scene, saying that she and her mother were in Bath & Body Works when they heard gunshots. “The employees opened the back storage area and told everyone to run,” Williams said, describing how she took cover behind the store counters.
