Shooting at Good Samaritan Hospital in Northwest Portland
PORTLAND, Ore. – A shooting incident unfolded at Good Samaritan Hospital in northwest Portland on Saturday morning, prompting a swift response from local authorities. Portland police and fire departments rushed to the scene to address the emergency situation.
Portland Fire & Rescue took to Twitter to announce their response to the incident, stating that shots had been fired at Good Samaritan Hospital on Northwest 22nd Avenue. Fire crews were deployed to aid one victim in the hospital’s emergency room.
In conjunction with the fire department’s efforts, the Portland Police Bureau dispatched tactical teams, including crisis negotiators, to the scene. As a precautionary measure, the hospital was locked down, and officers began searching the surrounding area after the suspect left the premises.
To ensure public safety, the police have closed off NW 21st Avenue to NW 23rd Avenue from NW Northrup Street to NW Lovejoy Street. These road closures are intended to secure the area while the investigation unfolds.
