Shooting Attack in Samaria: 21-Year-Old Man and 23-Year-Old Woman Injured but Baby Unharmed

by time news

Two individuals were injured in a shooting attack near Itamar in Samaria. The victims, a 21-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman, sustained serious and moderate injuries in the incident. The attackers fled the scene, prompting the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and Magen David Adom (MDA) to spring into action. The wounded were provided with immediate medical treatment, and roadblocks were set up as security forces pursued the perpetrators. Fortunately, a 5-month-old baby girl who was also in the car was unharmed.

The MDA reported that the vehicle, carrying the man, woman, and baby, was hit by gunfire and continued driving until it reached Moshav Gitit, where medics and paramedics administered aid. The injured individuals were then evacuated by helicopter to Bilinson Hospital. Shahar Eloili, an emergency medical medic with MDA, described the scene, stating that the two victims were conscious and receiving treatment. The man was in serious condition, while the woman was in moderate condition. The baby, miraculously, was unharmed.

This attack follows a stabbing incident in Jerusalem’s Old City earlier in the week, where an Israeli Border Police officer was fatally stabbed. The alleged assailant, a 16-year-old resident of Issawiya, was neutralized by security forces. The MDA teams treated the injured officer and another border police officer at the scene before evacuating them to the hospital. The possibility that the injured officer was also hit by friendly fire is under investigation, and several suspects related to the attacker have been arrested for questioning.

The recent violence underscores the ongoing security challenges faced in the region. Authorities are working to ensure the safety and security of the public while investigating these troubling incidents.
