Shooting attack in Jerusalem: At least two people were seriously injured tonight (Matchash) by shooting at a bus on HaKotel Street in Jerusalem, and at another scene near David’s Tomb. Large forces were deployed to the area and are hunting for terrorists suspected of carrying out the attack who allegedly fled to the nearby Silvan neighborhood.
The MDA informed us that this was an attack at two sites, one site on Ma’ale HaShalom Street, where fire was opened at a bus, and a second site nearby, on Ma’ale Shazach Street, at the entrance to the parking lot next to King David’s Tomb on the corner of Maale HaShalom Road.
Eyewitnesses to the attack said that the shooting was carried out when the driver of Egged bus line 3 approached to help a disabled woman get on the bus. Later, shots were also fired at the entrance to the parking lot next to King David’s tomb.
“Medics and paramedics of MDA provide medical treatment and refer to the hospital 7 gunshot victims, 6 men and a woman, including: 2 in serious condition, 5 in moderate and light condition,” MDA said.
Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum praised the attack and said it was “a natural response to the crimes of the occupation and the settlers against our people and the holy places.”
The police said: “A short time ago, the police received a report of a shooting at a bus near David’s Tomb (Ma’ale HaShalom) in Jerusalem. The initial report received was that there were several injured. Many police forces arrived at the scene and began to close the scene, investigate the case and search for the suspect who fled.”
