Albuquerque Police Officer and Suspect Injured in Shooting

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A shooting in the International District on Saturday night left both a suspect and a police officer injured, according to Albuquerque police.

APD Chief Harold Medina took to social media to provide details of the incident, stating that they were alerted around 8:20 p.m. by a license plate reader of a stolen car at Pennsylvania and Central.

“At this point in time, some type of altercation occurred with the driver of the stolen vehicle and officers. We’ve had one officer shot in the hand, both hands actually,” said Medina.

Both the injured officer and the suspect were taken to the hospital for treatment. Their current conditions are unknown.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact the Albuquerque Police Department.
