Several people were killed in a shooting in Plymouth, South West England. Police were called for “a serious firearms incident” in the Keyham area around 6pm. “The area has been cordoned off and the police believe the situation is contained,” police sources said.
Luke Pollard, a local member of Parliament, wrote on Facebook: “It seems there has been a very serious situation in Keyham. Everyone stay safe, inside the house and follow the directions of the police. Please avoid speculation and do not share pictures of anyone. victim”.
Another MP, Johnny Mercer, tweeted: “Serious and tragic accident in Plymouth. Follow police instructions and do not post unverified news or speculation on social media.”
The number of victims is still uncertain. Johnny Mercer, a local member of Parliament, specified on Twitter that the incident “is not connected with terrorism, nor is the suspected author, on the run”.
