“The needs are great. We have just opened a new training session with AFTRAL (Learn and train in transport and logistics) to attract new people into the passenger driving professions”: the observation of Stéphane Wiecek, apprenticeship master at TCAT (public transport for the Trojan area) joins that of companies in the sector. Those who are used to taking the bus in the Troyes area (Aube) know: delays, or even cancellations, have not been uncommon for several weeks. A lack of vocations which adds to daily pressure on drivers, and ultimately to absenteeism.

Recruiting therefore becomes urgent. “For several years, we have been working with the AFTRAL training center on our professionalization and apprenticeship contracts,” explains Stéphane Wiecek. “The goal is to be able to bring future drivers to urban passenger transport, by obtaining a driving license. With training on road behavior, welcoming customers inside vehicles, including users in wheelchairs. »

No diplomas required at the TCAT: “You must have a category D license which allows you to drive heavy passenger transport vehicles. Then a mandatory minimum initial training to professionalize the license for all passenger transport vehicles,” indicates Stéphane Wiecek.

3000 trainees per year

AFTRAL is a privileged partner. And the training center feels this demand from companies on a daily basis. “There are a lot of jobs,” confirms Florent Dufour, director of the Torvilliers site. We lack candidates but there is no shortage of companies to welcome them, both in logistics and transport, including for ambulances. » The third building, of more than 3000 m2, can accommodate offices in good conditions, but also a logistics zone with an overhead crane, without mixing with other formations. A security issue in the first place.

Here, AFTRAL trains 3,000 trainees per year, supervised by 25 trainers, on 5 heavy goods vehicles, numerous forklifts, and therefore 3 buildings now, on more than 30,000 m2 of land. “It’s like working in real life. We train professionals with supervisors who are experts in logistics and transport. It allows us to be in reality with equipment that we encounter in companies,” explains Florent Dufour.

“We also need to bring people who are a little further from employment towards qualification”

Loïc Charbonnier, CEO of the AFTRAL group

From CAP to bac + 2 on a work-study basis, the center is responsible for finding companies for the benefit of candidates. It remains to seduce the latter. “There is a decreasing unemployment rate,” notes Loïc Charbonnier, CEO of the AFTRAL group. “We also need to bring people who are a little further from employment towards qualification. This requires mobilization and support work that we also wish to carry out. Soft skills are also expected by companies. »

A plan for RSA beneficiaries

A request which echoes the measures voted by the Aube Departmental Council. “We have put in place a major plan for new RSA beneficiaries,” adds Anne-Marie Zeltz, vice-president of Aube. We have 700 first-time entrants per year. With the consular chambers and our partners, we are going to carry out a 21-hour diagnosis for these people, to find out their personal and professional situation, the obstacles to employment, to be able to organize their return to a position, and to work with the economic world to so that companies can find employees. »
