The chairman of the teachers’ organization, Ran Erez, published today (Wednesday) in a letter to the chairman of the budget division Efi Malkin the demands of the Ministry of Finance from the teachers’ organization that were not agreed upon as part of the agreements on the salary agreement. The demands are shortening the dismissal procedure for teachers and simplifying the dismissal procedure for school principals and favoring young teachers over veteran teachers in receiving training benefits.

In addition to these requirements, Erez noted that other topics were written under ‘consent and extraction’ such as the new graduation outline, a project to integrate academization and artificial intelligence and digitization. This is despite the fact that no different terms of employment have been agreed upon in relation to them and it is not even clear if such are required.

Erez detailed in the letter the agreements that already exist between the teachers’ organization and the Ministry of Finance: a salary increase of 2,000 shekels, a 1.5% indexation, payment of the increase in the first installments starting this September, transfer of a payment of 50 million shekels to the teachers’ organization this September, an outline for reducing the scope of the teachers’ position, Condensation of training rewards, allocation of a budget for ‘modern salary’ for school principals, allocation of a budget for flexible rewards for teachers and allocation of budgets for other issues.

“Let’s make it clear,” writes Erez, “we take your conduct very seriously, when when we came to sit down, read and comment on the one-sided paper you drafted – you behaved aggressively and tried to exert disgraceful pressure so that we would not recognize what was mixed up, unilaterally by you.”

Erez signs the letter by signing what is agreed upon. “I will ask once again to anchor the agreements we reached in a collective agreement, and this immediately, in order to finally bring peace to the education system, to teachers and teachers in secondary education.”

Earlier today, Erez sent a letter to the Minister of Education Yoav Kish in which he criticizes the minister’s intention to request a restraining order against the sanctions of the teachers’ organization. “You informed me that you intend to return to the confrontation outline and take legal action against the teachers’ organization, and try to leave the secondary education teachers exposed to the ‘good will’ of the finance officials.” According to Kish, if an injunction is filed, it will be to exclude the grading of the Arab students for the academic institutions.

Erez announced yesterday the renewal of the organization’s sanctions, which include not going on trips and trips to Poland, not giving grades and not participating in grades. School days will be held as usual. In the explanation for the renewal of the sanctions, two reasons were stated: the sanctions were renewed following two controversies: one, the treasury’s withdrawal from the payment of the first payment of NIS 800 in the September salary and its intention to pay in three months. The second is the treasury’s requirement that the organization’s teachers be included in the vacation schedule established with the teachers’ union. Now in the letter additional reasons were stated.
