The Madras High Court has dismissed the petition filed by Chawku Shankar seeking permission to distribute books to Cuddalore jail inmates.

In the petition filed by Chavku Shankar in this regard, he has said that he has decided to provide 76 books worth Rs 15,000 free for the reading of prisoners in the Cuddalore jail and has written to the DGP of the prison department to get them.

However, Chavku Shankar has alleged in the petition that the prison department refused to accept his books due to political reasons. Therefore, he has requested in the petition to order the DGP of the prison department to accept his books.
