(ANSA) – MILAN, MAY 09 – An exhibition to talk about autism and running, with the works of Jacopo Munegato, a young 25-year-old suffering from a relational intellectual disability, with the dream of participating in the next New York marathon with his friend Francesco Salerno, suffering from an autism spectrum disorder.
The ‘42,195 Road to New York’ exhibition, hosted at Palazzo Pirelli, headquarters of the Lombardy Regional Council, includes some of the 42 works, one for each kilometer of the marathon, created by Jacopo: landscapes and cities that represent his vision of the world , but also a way to relaunch that ‘made in USA’ dream that he shares with his friend. After 42 paintings, the last one is titled ‘0.195’ and corresponds to the last meters of the marathon.
On November 3, the two boys will try to complete the 42.195 kilometers of the New York marathon and will run with the colors of the Asd ‘Silvia Tremolada’ of Monza, an association that has been involved in promoting sporting activity for the benefit of people since 1984. with physical, sensorial and intellectual disabilities, and with the support of the ‘Ragazzi di Robin’ of Segrate (Milan), a non-profit organization founded to promote the social inclusion of young people through art, culture and sport.
Present at the inauguration of the exhibition were, among others, the president of the regional council Federico Romani and the regional councilor of the League Riccardo Pase, promoter of the initiative.
Romani underlined how the project “has the ability to break down all barriers, especially mental ones”, an artistic and sporting journey “that reminds us, once again, that disability today is no longer an obstacle”. (HANDLE).
