One of the IPL innovations, Shreyas Iyer is emerging as the best backline player for the Indian team after Yuvraj Singh. He used to play for Delhi in the IPL and has now been picked by the Kolkata team and appointed captain of the team.

Shreyas Iyer, the youngest member of the Indian cricket team, has moved up to 18th position in the recently announced ICC T20 rankings. Following his outstanding performances in the series against the West Indies and Sri Lanka, he has progressed several points like a snake in the rankings for the T20 series.
He also scored an impressive half-century in the 3D20 match against Sri Lanka and shone as the match winner. Shreyas Iyer scored a total of 204 runs in this match alone. As a result, he moved up 27 places to 18th in the ICC T20 rankings.
Special in Test matches too
Following this, the Test series with the Sri Lankan team is now underway. In this too, Shreyas Iyer is coming down as a back row player. He has mixed fifties in both the matches of the second Test. Following this, the ICC has now given him one of the greatest honors.
He is currently being named the ICC Player of the Year for February following his outstanding contribution. Shreyas is the third Indian to receive the award. The award has already been presented to Rishabh Pund and Ravichandran Aswin.
