A man from Shumen found and handed over to the police department in the city a man’s wallet with a sum of BGN 980, personal documents and a debit card, reported the press center of the Regional Directorate (OD) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Shortly after 3:30 p.m. today, 58-year-old Georgi Danev noticed a man’s wallet on the ground about a meter from the footpath on Aleko Konstantinov Street in the city. He took it, saw that there was a large amount of money in it and immediately called 112. Then he went to the police station and handed it over. “At that time, people were getting paid, I immediately thought that someone had taken a salary and was going to be without money for a whole month. I didn’t think for a second not to hand over the wallet,” explained Danev, who works as a shift supervisor in the press workshop of a Shumen company, quoted by the police press center.

Insp. Milen Minev searched for the owner of the wallet – 44-year-old Nikolay Nedyalkov from Shumen, and invited him to the police station to get it. “I was on a motorcycle, I was moving along “Aleko Konstantinov” street and on the pedestrian crossing I stopped to give way to pedestrians – a mother with a child and two men. I realized that the wallet was missing when I got to a store and had to make a payment “I am extremely grateful that there are such people. I would also return a purse if I found one,” Nedyalkov was quoted as saying by the Shumen police station.

As a sign of gratitude, the man donated half of the money to the 58-year-old Shumen resident, added the police.

A lost man’s wallet was returned to a Shumenets resident on June 21, 2023, after children found it and handed it over to the police. In another case on June 19 of this year A lost purse with one thousand BGN intended for the treatment of a relative of an elderly Shumenka woman was returned to the woman after a citizen found it and handed it over to the police.
