Shvetsov will fight for an Olympic medal in modern pentathlon in Paris /

The⁣ competition in Versailles will commence at ⁢18.30 Latvian time, with 18 athletes scheduled ​to compete consecutively in show⁤ jumping, fencing bonus round,⁣ swimming, running, and shooting combined.

In⁤ fencing, athletes receive points earned in‍ the semi-finals. ⁣Shvetsov achieved the third-best result with ⁢240 points in the semi-finals, along with the bonus round​ results.

In his semi-final on ⁤Friday, ⁣Shvetsov finished fifth and secured a place‍ in the final, joining the top nine athletes​ from⁤ both semi-finals.

Shvetsov is competing in his second ⁤Olympic​ Games. Three years ago in Tokyo, he finished 14th.

Švetsov is the last athlete representing⁢ Latvia at these Olympic Games, as Latvia has yet ⁢to secure ⁢any⁣ medals.

Today, a total⁣ of 39 sets of medals will be awarded in synchronized swimming, diving, ⁢water⁢ polo, athletics, basketball, boxing, break, ⁤canoeing, and kayaking, track cycling, football, golf, artistic gymnastics, beach volleyball, handball,⁢ modern pentathlon, porta-climbing, ⁢table ​tennis, taekwondo,⁢ volleyball, martial arts,⁤ and⁢ weightlifting.

The Olympic Games will take ‌place in the French capital until August 11, and​ will extend beyond the capital to ⁣16 ​other‍ locations, including‍ the French overseas⁢ territory of‍ French⁣ Polynesia. The Games program‌ features 32 ‌sports and 329 sets ​of medals will be awarded.

Latvia will be⁢ represented by 29 athletes​ in 14 sports at the Paris Games: 3×3 basketball, BMX supercross⁣ and freestyle, show jumping,‍ equestrian sports, mountain biking, shooting, modern pentathlon, ⁣swimming, beach volleyball, weightlifting, road cycling, tennis, and ‌athletics.
