Tlaxcala, Tlax, June 4, 2023 (Editorial). – The state government, through the Directorate of Agriculture of the Secretariat for Agricultural Promotion (SIA), has 58 Centers for Promotion and Organic Innovation (CIIO), which offer training on online composting, biopreparations, vermiculture and selection of corn, for the benefit of 2,500 producers.
The head of the SIA, Rafael de la Peña Bernal, commented that in 2022 they installed 36 CIIOs, so this year they will seek to reach 100, which are located in producers’ houses, with the aim of making them easily accessible to work groups that serve the 24 technicians within the organic management plan of the dependency.
The plan contemplates providing technology transfer within the centers so that producers can make compost and bio-preparations, in which they use materials from the region and integrate them into the soil, in order to make them more porous, generate microorganisms, regulate the ph , in addition to preventing pests, diseases and restoring the quality of the substrate to improve agricultural production.
In the same way, vermiculture is offered, where worms reproduce and obtain humic acids to obtain natural fertilizer; Likewise, tests are carried out for the selection of corn and the rescue of original lines of the native cereal.
With these actions, the state government, through the SIA, brings organic management innovations to the communities, improves the quality of production and soils, and integrates the agricultural population to work together for the benefit of the rural communities of Tlaxcala. .
