“This sharing of experience with delegations, particularly African ministers, is possible through the rich and varied program of SIAM, with workshops, conferences and B to B,” said the minister in an interview with the MAP.
Returning to the 4th Annual Ministerial Conference of the “AAA” initiative (Adaptation of African Agriculture), held on the sidelines of SIAM, Mr. Sadiki said that 36 African delegations were able to participate to discuss the adaptation of agriculture and production systems to climatic shocks.
This Moroccan initiative, launched in 2016 during COP22, under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, offered African countries an opportunity to share effective solutions for greater resilience and adaptation of production systems, said the minister.
Thus, the “AAA” initiative allows, within the framework of cooperation and partnership, the mobilization of financing necessary for adaptation to climate change and helps African countries to prepare bankable projects, thanks to the presence of international organizations and donors.
Furthermore, the minister recalled having had a series of meetings with his African counterparts, as part of the realization of South-South cooperation, under the enlightened vision of HM the King.
“The ministers of African countries focused on sharing Moroccan experience in the agricultural sector and expressed their desire to benefit from the Moroccan model, in particular the Generation Green strategy,” said Mr. Sadiki.
And note that this strategy is intended to be a road map to combat the effects of climate change, through the control of irrigation water as an essential factor of adaptation.
This notably through water saving with the objective of reaching one million hectares of drip irrigated area by 2030 and the mobilization of unconventional water with an objective of 120,000 hectares. area irrigated using salt water.
Organized until April 28 under the theme “Climate and agriculture: For sustainable and resilient production systems”, the 16th edition of SIAM sees the participation of nearly 70 countries, including Spain as guest of honor , and 1,500 exhibitors.
More than 950,000 visitors are expected at this high mass of Moroccan and international agriculture which offers a rich program of 40 conferences and round tables on crucial current themes.
