Successfully separated at the Bambino Gesù Pediatric Hospital in Rome two Central African Siamese twins joined by the nape, with skull and most of the venous system in common. It is the first case in Italy, and probably the only one in the world, of a successful intervention of this kind. After more than a year of preparation, they underwent three very delicate and separate operations on June 5th, with an 18-hour operation. A month later the girls are fine.
