Riyadh – Siamese twins were separated in Saudi through a seven-hour surgery in seven stages. Consultants, specialist nursing and technical departments led the operation under the direction of Ruler King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
The anesthesia phase went smoothly and all sophisticated monitoring equipment was in place to ensure the safety of the twins. Nisar Al Sughaibi, Head of Pediatric Anesthesia Department, announced that the anesthesia plan has been changed.
Under the leadership of Hanan Al Husseinan, the skin consultant doctor has also done plastic surgery. The twins have been transferred to the pediatric intensive care unit. Over the past 32 years, the Saudi project has managed to separate 127 conjoined twins from 23 countries.
