I want a sequel to that Mohanlal movie, even though it was planned but did not happen: Sibi Malayil

However, Sibi Malayil says that he feels a sequel is needed to know what happened to that character later and that he had completed the script work for it.

Sibi Malayil states that the film was an inquiry about Rajeev Menon and it was meant to be a film that should stand alongside or above Dasaratham, but ultimately it did not happen. He was speaking to Mirchi Malayalam.

‘Dasaratham is a film for which I wished for a sequel. He is left in a state of incompleteness. Doesn’t he have a life anymore? Perhaps he is still alive.

The moment he forgets that child he cannot let go. At the end of the story, he realizes that emotion. The expression of handing over the child is not with great joy. It is letting go after seeing the woman’s pain.

But that moment of asking the character Maggi brought that goodness to him. There was an inquiry about what his life would be after that. The script had been completed. But it did not happen.

Generally, when a sequel is taken, the character moves towards something different. For example, sequels to the C.B.I series come because the character alone moves forward. Stories in all of them are new. But Dasaratham is a continuation of a story.

It is an inquiry about where this man is now after thirty years. Where is that child? What is their condition? What is Annie doing now? There are many such questions in front of us. The most fundamental question is what is the status of Rajeev Menon now.

It was a film that was meant to move into another dimension. If it is a sequel to Dasaratham, it should come alongside it. It would have become a film that arrives alongside or above it. It did not happen. But I don’t know if it will happen now,’ Sibi Malayil says.
