Initiated by the Reading Network in Morocco, in partnership and with the support of the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication and in collaboration with the academies and departments under the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports, this ceremony was also marked by the presentation of prizes to the 6 winners of the “National Prize for the best reading club”.

Speaking on this occasion, Rachida Roqy, President of the Network, indicated that this program is part of the continuity of a long-term work initiated since the creation of the Network and which resulted in the opening of several branches in order to cover all the regions of the Kingdom.

Aspiring to become a “community of knowledge”, the Network aims to strengthen the involvement of its members and attract more readers, the ultimate goal being to promote the act of reading, particularly in rural areas, she continued during this ceremony, which was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication and the Ministry of National Education, Preschool, as well as educational executives and cultural actors.

For her part, Atika Hachimi, coordinator of the Network, noted that this 10th edition saw the participation of 6,000 candidates from 300 educational establishments from all the regional academies, as well as 45 students from university establishments.

Regarding the Best Reading Club Award, she continued, this edition saw the participation of 45 clubs, noting that the winners were selected on the basis of numerous criteria.

Launched last February, this reading program began by organizing competitions at different levels: local, provincial, regional and national, with applications submitted via an electronic link.

The Moroccan Reading Network, created in December 2013, has 12 branches covering five regions of the Kingdom. Its main objective is to instill in citizens the habit of reading, based on the conviction that reading represents the gateway to the world of knowledge, which remains the main lever for any development.
