Taking part in this pavilion are the Economic, Social and Environmental Council (CESE), the Institution of the Ombudsman of the Kingdom (IMR), the Council of the Moroccan Community Abroad (CCME), the High Authority for Audiovisual Communication (HACA), the Competition Council (CC), the National Authority for Integrity, Prevention and the Fight against Corruption (INPPLC), and the National Commission for the Control of Personal Data Protection (CNDP).

Through this joint presence in the same pavilion, the seven bodies wish to strengthen their visibility, promote the culture of citizenship and encourage dialogue with the public. Indeed, this initiative, which is part of a perspective of coherence and complementarity of the areas of competence of the different institutions and bodies, aims to “allow the public of the Show to become aware of the roles and missions assigned to them, and to familiarize themselves with their operating methods and the results of their activities”.

In this sense, the president of the HACA, Latifa Akharbach, stressed that the seven institutions aim through this space to promote dialogue with the Moroccan citizen around major issues, noting that the objective of this union is to strengthen the place of these institutions so that they can fulfill their responsibilities, particularly in terms of consolidating the rule of law, freedoms and the Moroccan experience in participatory democracy.

“This space will also be an ideal opportunity for Moroccan citizens to learn about the efforts made by these organizations in the context of improving the relationship between users and public administrations and to obtain clarifications on the Development Model,” she added in a statement to MAP.

Furthermore, the HACA president stressed that the development of reading represents a major project, noting that reading allows citizens to develop and improve critical thinking, in order to be able to take advantage of all the new opportunities created by the digital transformation in the communication system, in particular access to information and freedom of expression.

“We need a citizen with intellectual awareness, critical thinking and media literacy, allowing them to protect themselves and society as a whole from all the content that we can find in this unregulated digital space,” she said.

For his part, the Ombudsman of the Kingdom, Mohamed Benalilou, highlighted the symbolism of this initiative which underlines the colossal work carried out by all of these constitutional institutions in favor of the Moroccan citizen, adding that this space will allow visitors to have an overview of all the attributions and missions of these bodies which work for the consolidation of good governance and human rights.

“The Institution of the Ombudsman in the Kingdom will make available to visitors all the reports it has published and submitted to His Majesty King Mohammed VI concerning the functioning of the administration and its relations with citizens and users,” he noted.

For his part, the president of the CCME, Driss El Yazami, noted that this common pavilion which brings together seven constitutional bodies, which contribute to the protection of citizens’ rights and the strengthening of transparency in public life, aims to promote the spirit of citizenship of visitors.

“The idea is also to allow visitors to ask any questions they wish, to learn about the function and particular role of each institution and at the same time see their achievements and working methods,” he continued.

The President of the INPPLC, Mohamed Bachir Rachdi, noted that “this common flag is a strong message to explain that institutional action is a common action, with a strong articulation between the roles of these constitutional institutions, and that efficiency necessarily involves this convergence.”

“The presence of the INPPLC, as a national anti-corruption institution, creates channels of communication with the different categories of the population to inform them of the progress that has been made in terms of deepening knowledge and evaluation of public policies,” he said, adding that it is also about allowing visitors to discover the important projects that create the bases for an evolution and a passage towards a new era of fight against corruption.

Placed under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the SIEL, which continues until May 19, confirms Morocco’s vocation as a country of meetings, dialogue and cultural exchanges, by offering a wide choice of activities bringing together Moroccan and foreign authors, thinkers and creators.
