Speaking at the “New Publications” event on the occasion of the 29th International Book and Publishing Fair (SIEL), Mr. Mbarki stressed that this work highlights the potential of this city by exploring the major development projects underway, in the wake of the Royal Initiative for the Development of the Orient announced during the Royal speech in Oujda on March 18, 2003.
Available in four languages (Arabic, Amazigh, French and Spanish), this beautiful book reveals the hidden treasures of Nador, by shining the spotlight on this city which is full of enormous potential, with a remarkable evolution over the last decade, he stressed.
“This city, which remained little known for a long time, can now present itself to the world as a place full of promise,” he noted, recalling its important role in the country’s economic development.
Through an anthropological approach that has yielded a number of discoveries, the book traces the history of the region, and evokes the current situation as well as future prospects, thanks to a genuine desire to deepen the research and promotion of archaeological heritage.
In addition to highlighting the natural wealth and economic potential, the book invites the reader to immerse themselves in the richness of Nador’s cultural heritage: rural women’s pottery, Rif jewelry, etc., while emphasizing the unique characteristics of clothing, thus helping to preserve the collective memory.
Like previous editions, the SIEL cultural program, which offers a wide choice of activities bringing together Moroccan and foreign authors, thinkers and creators, confirms Morocco’s vocation as a country of meetings, dialogue and cultural exchanges.
Placed under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the 29th edition of SIEL (May 9-19) will see the participation of 743 exhibitors representing 48 countries, with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as guest of honor.
