SIEL: award ceremony for the winners of the 3rd edition of the Young Poets Prize

Chaired by the Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, this ceremony was marked by the awarding of three prizes for the three participating categories, namely the Arabic language and zajal category, the Amazigh language category and the foreign languages ​​category.

The winning poems were selected by a specialist committee of critics and poets on the basis of a number of artistic and literary criteria.

Thus, the first prize in the category of Arabic language and zajal was awarded to Leila El Khamlichi, while the second prize went to Sara Benharra.

The third prize was awarded ex aequo to Abdeladim El Hidaoui and Khadija Chelh.

In the Amazigh language category, Yassine Malek won first prize, while second and third prizes were awarded to Ismail Messaoud and Soukaina Koumani respectively.

Fatine El Fatmi won first prize in the foreign languages ​​category, while Wissal Abou Siyabah and Riham Grich were awarded second and third prizes respectively.

In a statement to MAP, the president of the jury, Abdellah Charik, welcomed the success of this third edition which celebrates the poetry of young people, noting that “youth continues to create in this authentic literary genre despite their interest in modern technologies and artificial intelligence.”

He added that the scientific jury, set up by the ministry and composed of experts in various linguistic specialties, held several meetings during which it examined the works in the running in order to determine to what extent they met the criteria defining poetic writing.

For her part, Leila El Khamlichi said she was proud to win the prize for her poem “A Woman in the Time of Dispersion”, specifying that this creative work “celebrates women and their ability to preserve their radiance and brilliance despite the twists and turns of life”.

For her part, Soukaina Koumani said that her poem “I am the illusion of this time”, for which she won third prize in the Amazigh language category, tells a “story of pain and hope”, inspired by the human tragedy caused by the Al Hoceima earthquake.

The Young Poets Prize aims to encourage young talents in the field of poetic writing, to promote their talent and to encourage them to enter the world of creation.

Placed under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the 29th edition of SIEL (May 9-19) will see the participation of 743 exhibitors representing 48 countries, with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as guest of honor.
