The participants in this symposium, organized by the General Secretariat of the Government under the theme (SGG) “A renewed legal arsenal: a pillar for efficient public policies”, highlighted the current legal issues resulting from the continuous development of the national legislative system, in response to the requirements of the general policies of the State on the economic and social levels.

The participants also discussed the issue of harmonizing the national legislative and regulatory arsenal with Morocco’s international commitments.

In this regard, the Director of Legal Studies and Research at the General Secretariat of the Government, Ahmed Zejjari, said that the objective of this meeting is to share the experience of the General Secretariat of the Government in the field of drafting legislative and regulatory texts, stressing that the updating of these texts is part of the process of revising national legislation.

In a statement to MAP, Mr. Zejjari affirmed that facilitating access to a relevant and clear legal system is part of the recognized constitutional principles, noting that “the General Secretariat of the Government ensures compliance with this constitutional principle.”

For her part, Nadia Jamaa, professor of constitutional law and political science at the Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences of Ibn Tofail University in Kenitra, affirmed that the updating of the national legal system represents one of the important projects undertaken by the General Secretariat of the Government, noting that this issue goes hand in hand with legal security which guarantees the citizen a feeling of confidence, in order to support the changes underway.

Updating the legal system involves many challenges, particularly in terms of legal drafting and its mastery in revising legislative text and compiling legal texts, Ms. Jamaa explained in a similar statement.

She added that among the challenges at this level are the rectification of errors and the removal of imperfections in certain legal and legislative texts.

The General Secretariat of the Government (SGG) is participating in the 29th edition of the International Book and Publishing Fair (SIEL), which continues until May 19 in Rabat, with a stand under the theme “a renewed legal arsenal: pillar of efficient public policies”.

In addition to contributing to enriching the debate on a number of issues relating to improving the quality of the legal system, through the organization of conferences and thematic workshops, the SGG stand is dedicated to exhibiting the latest publications in the legal field to strengthen access to legal information.
