Siemens announced this Tuesday the acquisition of BuntPlanet, a technology company based in San Sebastián with the aim of strengthening the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in the water sector.

The Guipuzcoan company’s software serves to support clients with smart measurement solutions, water quality and integration of hydraulic models and AI to detect leaks in water networks.

Since 2019, Siemens already had a licensing agreement with BuntPlanet to sell its leak detection software known as ‘SIWA LeakPlus’. Now, with this acquisition, BuntPlanet’s entire offering and equipment will be integrated into Siemens’ application portfolio for water utilities, making it even more complete for its customers.
