Created in 2020 by the Directorate General for Competition, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Prevention (DGCCRF), the Signal Conso website seems to have found its audience. In three years, 564,000 consumer reports have been recorded, with a marked increase in recent months, and the application, launched last May, has already been downloaded 110,000 times.
Now, 10% of reports are made via the application, which records testimonies of misleading commercial practices, problematic purchases (defective equipment, etc.), or questions from consumers concerning their rights (duration of the right of withdrawal, termination clauses, etc.).
Sometimes, depending on their request and the file, they can also obtain mediation from the Fraud Repression agents, who try to find an amicable solution with the company pointed out. The most recurring topics? Telephone canvassing, scams for energy renovation work and purchases on the Internet share the main complaints.

But in the coming months, Signal Conso should grow even more. To best prepare for the arrival of the 15 to 20 million tourists expected during the Olympic Games to be held in Paris next summer, the application will be translated into English this fall. And an “Olympic Games” tab will allow foreign visitors to quickly find answers to their questions.
“In the event of stolen papers, scams from an airline or a merchant, deceptive commercial practices or assaults, they will be able to find immediate answers, but also contact links in France to find out who to call for this or that problem, we explain to the office of the Minister of Tourism, Olivia Grégoire, where we coordinate this file. In the coming months, the application will be particularly valued so that foreign visitors know it. It will be referenced on the sites of the embassies, on the official site of the Olympic Games Paris2024.org, as well as in the airports and probably in the stations thanks to a QR code which will allow it to be downloaded quickly. »
