Initialed by Mr. André Azoulay, Advisor to His Majesty the King and President of FRIDISI, Moulay Elhassan Hbid, President of UCA and Benelmostafa Youssef, Director General of EIGSI-Casablanca, in the presence of the Governor of the province of Essaouira, Adil El Maliki, the President of the municipal council, Tarik Ottmani, the Deputy President of FRIDISI, Hicham Madroumi, elected officials and other stakeholders, this agreement aims to give more opportunities to brilliant high school graduates from the province to access training in innovative sectors.

Speaking on this occasion, Mr. Azoulay indicated that this is “a moment to mark with a white stone for Essaouira”, while describing this partnership as virtuous, legitimate and long-awaited.

“In our journey of rebirth and rebuilding of the city, we still had a missing box that we could not tick in this journey, which is to provide a dignified and consistent response to the legitimate expectations of young people forced to go into exile to continue their studies,” noted Mr. Azoulay, explaining that with the signing of this agreement providing for the opening of these two engineering classes with around sixty places from the next academic year, according to the EIGSI model, Essaouira “has just taken a decisive step in this journey.”

The conclusion of this agreement represents “a founding act that will allow us to say that this last step in the path of rebirth and rebuilding of Essaouira has just been taken and will trigger another dynamic that will give every opportunity to the children of the province who will no longer be forced into exile,” added Mr. Azoulay.

In a statement to M24, the continuous news television channel of MAP, Mr. Hbid, for his part, explained that this agreement, which is part of the Public-Private partnership, will expand the offer of university education in the province of Essaouira, stating that under this agreement, the UCA will mobilize the necessary means and its expertise and human resources to support this operation targeting, during the first year, around sixty students among the brilliant baccalaureate holders in the province.

These students will continue their studies in innovative and current fields, added the president of the UCA, stressing that this agreement constitutes a “first milestone” on the path to opening new perspectives for the young people of the province, by providing them with an additional training offer that is added to that already provided by Cadi Ayyad University.

An offer that the UCA and partners will work to expand so that it reaches a larger number of young people and students in this province and this thousand-year-old city, he said.

While recalling that the cities of Essaouira and La Rochelle are linked by a twinning arrangement, Mr. Benelmostafa noted, for his part, that this agreement constitutes a “concrete example” and reflects this collaboration between the two cities, rejoicing in being able to contribute “our grain of sand to the promotion of higher education and the development of young people in this region.”

And to specify that this versatile training in Industrial Systems Engineering in very promising sectors of activity in Morocco, covers different innovative disciplines (environment, energy, IT, civil engineering, aeronautics, automotive, etc.).

Abounding in the same sense, Mr. Ottmani indicated that this initiative will allow Souiri students to be able to continue, from next September, their engineering studies without having to leave their city, adding that “we are working to find the means to even finance these studies.”

In a similar statement, he expressed his joy, as Souiri, to see one of the greatest dreams of the youth of the city and the province, in general, come true.

According to its terms, this agreement, which extends over a period of five years and will be tacitly renewed on the expiry date for the same duration, aims to establish and develop fruitful cooperation in the direction of the mutual aspirations of the three parties and their common interests, and to define the framework of this cooperation and the means to be implemented to achieve the objectives set.

Thus, the three parties undertake to develop joint actions, particularly in the areas of education, scientific research, training, innovation, technology transfer, entrepreneurship and business incubation.

It also aims, among other things, to strengthen students’ skills, promote scientific research, scientific progress and innovation, develop employability, entrepreneurship and socio-economic integration of young people, share and exchange knowledge, know-how and expertise in the fields of education, scientific research and industrial development, and organize visits and meetings between the academic world and the socio-economic world for the benefit of students and the teaching staff of the three partners, as well as exchange events with industrialists and professionals through seminars, conferences, webinars, etc.
