Ministry Signs Agreement to Enhance Iraq’s Role in International Communications
The Ministry of Communications announced on Tuesday the signing of a joint cooperation agreement to pass international capacities (transit) through Iraq.
The Ministry’s media office stated in a statement received by Agency, “On the sidelines of the Kabasti Middle East Conference held in Dubai, a joint cooperation agreement was signed in the presence and under the patronage of the Minister of Communications, Hiyam Al-Yasiri, to pass international capacities (transit) through Iraq via the (Falcon) submarine cable that reaches Al-Faw.”
The Minister explained that “the agreement was signed between the General Company for Communications and Information Technology and GCX Company,” adding that “this signing comes within the framework of efforts to enhance Iraq’s strategic position in the region and make it a safe alternative land corridor for international communications traffic reaching Europe.”
