This memorandum of understanding, signed by the Presidents of the House of Representatives and the House of Councilors, respectively, Messrs. Rachid Talbi Alami and Enaam Mayara and by the president of the National Congress of the Republic of Honduras, vice-president of the Forum of Presidents of the Legislative Powers of Central America, the Caribbean and Mexico (FOPREL), Rolando Redondo Guifarro, aims in particular to establish cooperation and coordination mechanisms, hold regular and constructive consultations on issues of common interest , in addition to the coordination of efforts and positions at the level of regional, continental and international parliamentary and governmental institutions, indicates a press release from the two chambers of Parliament.
This memorandum of understanding also aims to establish channels of parliamentary communication and interaction, through the exchange of visits, experiences, information and documents between the two legislative institutions, in addition to strengthening common activities and technical cooperation between the administrations of the two Parliaments.
On this occasion, the President of the National Congress of the Republic of Honduras announced the creation of the Honduras-Morocco parliamentary friendship group in order to “strengthen the relations of cooperation and friendship between the two Parliaments”, noting the existence of several opportunities and promising prospects for cooperation between the two countries, given the fact that Morocco is considered the gateway to Africa, and Honduras is at the heart of Latin America.
For their part, MM. Talbi Alami and Mayara expressed their desire to further strengthen parliamentary cooperation relations with the National Congress of the Republic of Honduras and to establish close cooperation and consultations within the framework of the FOPREL Forum, where the Moroccan Parliament is recognized as a member observer since 2014.
The President of the National Congress of the Republic of Honduras is visiting Morocco to take part in the work of the Parliamentary Conference on South-South Cooperation which is being held under the High Patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, Thursday and Friday Rabat, in the initiative of the House of Advisors and the Association of Senates, Shura and equivalent Councils of Africa and the Arab World.
