Signing of the performance protocol for the Alczar de San Juan Intermodal Platform

Representatives of the Castilla-La Mancha Community Board, the Ciudad Real Provincial Council, the Alcázar de San Juan City Council and the Valencia Port Authority have signed the action protocol for the development of the future Intermodal Logistics Platform that will be located in this city of Ciudad Real.

The action protocol that has been signed includes the intention of all parties to work for the development of the Alcázar de San Juan Intermodal Logistics Platform project. Among the actions that will be carried out is the supervision of studies and technical or financial works, the coordinated promotion of these infrastructures for use between the export-import fabric of the region and the business environment, collaboration with transport operators and shippers and logistics of the area of ​​influence of Alcázar de San Juan or progress in the management model in general and of its railway terminal in particular. The regional government has announced that it has budgeted 500,000 euros to implement the measures included in this action protocol.

At the beginning of February 2022, there was also a meeting with representatives of the mayor’s office and the port of Algeciras to analyze this platform in more detail and advance in one of the projects framed in the central branch. (see news).

Terminal ferroviaria

The Platform will be located at the confluence of the Mediterranean and Atlantic corridors. In the first phase of development, some fourteen hectares will be enabled. This initial stage has an investment of 27.5 million euros, of which five will be used for the railway terminal, which will have specialized labor in freight transport and logistics. From there there will be connections with the three main container ports in the southern half of the Iberian Peninsula.
