Ottawa: Relations between India and Canada were strained after the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar in British Columbia on June 18 last year. Canada had accused India of being involved in this murder. Now once again this matter has been raised in Canada. Banned organization Sikh for Justice (SFJ) has threatened to kill India’s Ambassador to Canada Sanjay Kumar Verma. Regarding Sanjay Kumar Verma’s visit to Surrey, SFJ has said that this is the same city where Nijjar was murdered at the behest of India. In such a situation, there is a chance to settle scores with Sanjay Kumar Verma when he comes to Surrey.
SFJ’s Gurpatwant Singh Pannu said in an email, “India is responsible for plotting the murder of Shaheed Nijjar. Pro-Khalistan Sikhs will get an opportunity to directly target the Indian High Commissioner in Surrey. Indian High Commissioner on Pannu’s threatening mail has said that the threat against me has been communicated to the relevant Canadian authorities, who have assured me of my safety. Verma is to visit the province of British Columbia and plans to visit the capital Victoria as well as Vancouver and Surrey. He is also scheduled to meet with Surrey Mayor Brenda Locke and the Surrey Board of Trade on Friday.

Nijjar was murdered last year

Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar was shot dead in the parking lot of a Gurudwara in Surrey last year. After this murder, SFJ is furious and is continuously spewing venom. Statements have also been issued continuously on its behalf against the leaders of India. Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann and Indian PM Narendra Modi have also been threatened by SFJ.

Why is Russia, India’s best friend, throwing its youth into the war? Has the Russian army fallen short?

Nijjar’s murder has also had a significant impact on relations between India and Canada. Regarding Nijjar’s murder, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had said in the House of Commons that there is a connection between Indian agents and the murder, of which he also has evidence. This was completely rejected by India. After this statement by Trudeau, bilateral relations between the two countries were seriously affected. Following Trudeau’s comments, pro-Khalistan groups had threatened Indian diplomats in Canada. The Indian Embassy in Ottawa was also attacked.
