And since it is a Fair dedicated to books for children and young people, the emphasis is placed in particular on this niche, with on the menu the new book by Mohamed Redouane, researcher specializing in the question of Al Quds, “Trip of the Maqdessis children to Morocco: ambassadors of the Kingdom in Palestine”.
This book, published by the Bayt Mal Al Qods Acharif Agency, highlights the summer camps organized each year in Morocco by this Agency for the benefit of Maqdessis children. A program launched in 2008, and which has to its credit a total of 700 children from different neighborhoods of the Holy City, who were able to visit different regions of the Kingdom.
“As with every event dedicated to books and publishing, the Bayt Mal Al Quds Acharif Agency participates with publications which emphasize the historical and emotional ties linking Moroccans and Palestinians and retrace the actions carried out by the Kingdom, under the leadership of HM the King, and having a great impact on the Holy City of Al Quds and its inhabitants,” underlined Mr. Redouane.
“The program of summer camps organized for the benefit of the Maqdessis children makes these children ambassadors of Morocco in Palestine, when they see with their own eyes Moroccan hospitality, and above all the solidarity of Moroccans, and at their head the Sovereign, towards their Palestinian brothers,” said Mohamed Redouane, in a statement to MAP. And to recall that the 14th edition of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency’s holiday camps, organized from August 10 to 26, 2023, and called “Green March”, had benefited, like previous editions, children maqdessis accompanied by supervisors from the Holy City.
Note that Mohamed Redouane, a researcher specializing in the question of Al Quds, has published several books and studies on this subject, notably “Al Quds Acharif in Judaic Orientalism”, “Al Quds in the Eyes of Moroccans” and “Cahiers d ‘Al-Quds’.
Organized by the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, in partnership with the prefecture of Casablanca, the Council of the city of Casablanca and the Council of the Casablanca-Settat region, the SILEJ aims to restore the taste reading to young people and children.
The show, which runs until November 22, brings together no less than 255 exhibitors representing 33 countries for a total of more than 100,000 copies of books on display.
