The national pair Dimitar Kalchev/Dimitar Mehandzhiyski from the Balkan Beach Volleyball Championship for men and women were congratulated with silver medals. The competition was held in Chisinau (Moldova) between September 13 and 15. 12 men’s teams and 9 women’s teams from six countries – Moldova, Turkey, Greece, Kosovo, Romania and Bulgaria – took part.

Our volleyball players, who triumphed in the National Beach Volleyball League this year, deservedly reached the final. They successfully overcame the three qualifying rounds (with two wins and one loss), and in the quarter-finals they prevailed over the Turkish champions Yusuf Özdemir/Batuhan Kuru with 2:1 (21:19, 16:21, 17:15). In the semi-final, our pair had to face the representatives of the home team, Egor Dobchis/Maxim Korsakov with 2:0 (21:17, 21:13).

In the battle for the title, Kalchev/Mekhanjiyski argued against another Turkish pair, Hassan Mermer/Sajit Kurt. The match was disputed and it came to a tiebreak, in which we unfortunately lost – 1:2 (15:21, 21:18, 9:15).
