(ANSA) – ANCONA, 04 SEPTEMBER – The choice of Ancona to hold the G7 Health “is a political investment in the city, in its relaunch, in the new perception of a city that is opening up, and is an organic part of a national relaunch project”. This was underlined today by the mayor, Daniele Silvetti, presenting, together with the president of the Central Adriatic Sea Port Authority Vincenzo Garofalo and the councilors for public works, Stefano Tombolini and the councilor for urban decorum, Daniele Berardinelli, some of the important works of redevelopment and extraordinary maintenance of the Doric city.
“The G7 Health is an event that gives a political perspective to Ancona – the mayor underlined -, which exercises its role as capital and wants to live up to this expectation that the central government, but also the Region, has given to the city that is preparing for the role, not only with a restyling. “Health – Silvetti underlined – is a theme, without taking anything away from the other G7s that have been realized, that interests citizens, and it is also politically dangerous because then it must be managed”. Also for this reason the municipality of Ancona will organize 50 events of high scientific content, extra G7 all aimed at the different aspects of health, before the arrival of the EU ministers and after the international event.
“Our goal, by broadening the involvement of the city with events and meetings of experts in the sector, beyond the three days during which the European delegations will be hosted – said Silvetti – is to demonstrate that our territory opens the debate but, above all, opens up to the new frontiers of research and medicine that have an important effect on the health of citizens”.
The city is preparing to host the European event on October 9, 10 and 11 with interventions that will also allow the important historical area of the port area to be redeveloped. Hence the commitment, with a one million euro financing, of the Port Authority. “We have taken up the challenge – said Garofalo – to help make the image of Ancona international by contributing to the implementation of structural interventions, in a logic of collaboration and interaction between the Port and the City”. The reception of the numerous delegations will be distributed, as agreed with the Diplomatic Commission, between Ancona and Portonovo, with the gala dinner in Numana. Everything rigorously locked down. “Hence the need to intervene so that traffic, infrastructure, decorum and usability are at their maximum” “Not just a restyling of the infrastructure – clarified Silvetti – but a new face worthy of the political role of the city of Ancona, within the region, but also at a national level”.
