The list headed by the former champion of the Southern Africa Region, Simão Muanda, is the only competitor in the election for the presidency of the Angolan Boxing Federation (FABOXE), which will take place on the 27th of May, in Luanda.
The fact was advanced by the president of the Electoral Commission, for the next four years of his term in the sports institution, Adriano Nunes, who confirmed the legitimacy of the documentation presented by the candidate and signed by a provincial association of the modality.
For Adriano Nunes, also a member of the Olympic Academy of Angola, in compliance with all legal requirements, with opening and verification of the entire file, the only competing list, which has until the 25th of May, for the conduct of his election campaign.
It should be recalled that in the electoral process for the 2020/24 four-year period, in which the previous cast chaired by Carlos Luís was re-elected, the Ministry of Youth and Sports was not recognized, due to alleged irregularities committed by the then Commission, such as the removal of the candidate from List B, the same Simão Muanda.
From this, FABOXE was left without direction, forcing, recently, the associates to create, in an extraordinary assembly, an administrative and management commission, directed by José Mayamputo, who coordinated the entire process that reached the choice of the current electoral group of Adriano Nunes .
As for Simão Muanda, a former three-time African champion boxer in Zone VI, in the 91 kg category, he was also secretary general of Team Elite, which has dominated Angolan boxing for over 10 years.
After a career of domestic and international success, which began in the Republic of Cuba, Simão Muanda is currently dedicated to the sports business, manufacturing equipment and specialty materials, as well as building his own infrastructure (Centro de Alto Rendimento) in the Zango, municipality of Viana.
With the main purpose of boosting the sport throughout the country and increasing the level of practitioners, for success in international competitions, it has in its cast several boxing figures, such as Olavo Gamboa, Daniel Gil, among others. VAB
