Tourism Day means a festive moment for the tourist town of Cox’s Bazar. Around the day, more than five hundred hotel-motel and cottage authorities of this city indulged in different levels of cultural fun. But this time ‘Simon Beach Resort’ has done something exceptional. This residential institution celebrated the World Tourism Day with a blood donation program of around 250 people.
Simon authorities organized a blood donation program inside the resort on Friday (September 27) at noon. In addition to the officials and employees of that institution, tourists also participated.
Shahnaz Akhtar, who is in charge of the resort’s front office, said, ‘My blood group is A positive. This is the first time I gave blood after testing the blood group. At first I was scared but later what I thought was not true. I donated a bag of blood with a mild feeling like an ant bite. Now I am thinking of donating blood regularly.’
Saiful Islam, who is in charge of the front desk, said, ‘Helping a patient by donating blood is a different feeling. My blood group is A negative. I donated blood twice. Donating blood by participating in the program of self-employed organizations is the most rewarding. If there is a chance, I will donate blood regularly according to the rules.’
Medical officer in charge of blood bank of Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital Dr. Ripon Chowdhury said, ‘If the blood is left for a long time, it gets wasted. So those who are present here, their blood will be tested for incurable diseases and then stored in the hospital. And according to Rukta’s group, the list of names and addresses will be drawn in the blood bank. If someone needs blood, they can get blood if they contact the blood group followers on that list or the blood bank authorities.’
Imran Hossain, food and beverage manager of Simon Beach Resort said, ‘More than two hundred of our officers and employees are donating blood. In addition to Simon’s manpower, guests have the opportunity to donate blood. This program was exceptional on behalf of our organization on this year’s World Tourism Day. Many people are happy to donate blood on Tourism Day. Saiman Beach Resort also organizes rally, beach clean-up program.
