Discolored Water Disrupts residents at Singapore’s Flame Tree Park Condominium
A pipe leak near Sin Ming Avenue has caused discolored water to flow from taps at the Flame Tree Park condominium, impacting residents on Thursday, January 1. Authorities are working to resolve the issue, with repairs expected to be completed by Friday.
Residents of the Flame Tree Park condominium in Sin Ming, Singapore, began experiencing issues with their water supply on Thursday, January 1, after a pipe leak was detected in a nearby area. The incident prompted a swift response from the national water agency,PUB,which promptly dispatched a crew to assess and address the situation.
PUB was alerted to the leak, located at the junction of Sin Ming Avenue and Upper Thomson Road, at approximately 9 a.m. local time. “We immediately deployed our service crew on site to trace the source of the leak and commence repair works,” a PUB spokesperson stated. Importantly, the agency confirmed that the water supply to homes and businesses in the surrounding vicinity remained unaffected throughout the incident.
the discoloration observed by residents is believed to be the result of mineral sediments being resuspended within the water pipe network due to the disruption caused by the leak. According to PUB, this phenomenon is a common occurrence in such situations and does not pose a health risk.
Repair crews are currently working to fully rectify the leak, with an estimated completion date of Friday. To mitigate the inconvenience for affected residents, PUB has deployed a water wagon to the condominium grounds and distributed water bags to provide a temporary water source.
In addition to PUB’s efforts, the Flame tree Park’s managing agent proactively initiated a flushing of the condominium’s internal water pipes and tanks to help clear any remaining sediment.
PUB has launched a full investigation to determine the root cause of the pipe leak and prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future. The agency is committed to maintaining the integrity of Singapore’s water infrastructure and ensuring a reliable water supply for all residents.
