Singapore Researchers Identify Vulnerability In Bluetooth Devices

by time news

Researchers at the Singapore University of Technology have identified a security vulnerability in a large number of devices with Bluetooth technology, RIA Novosti reports. A breach called BrakTooth affected 1,400 models of smartphones, laptops, keyboards and other gadgets.

At the same time, the researchers themselves believe that the vulnerability affects almost all devices with Bluetooth technology. It allows you to carry out two types of hacker attacks on gadgets. The first one breaks the connection using the technology and requires a manual restart of the equipment for normal operation.

In turn, the second hacker attack can be used to disable wireless communication or interact with other devices, as well as to delete data.

Researchers passed information about the problem to gadget manufacturers. They promise not to publish the full version of the study until the vulnerability is eliminated by the device manufacturers.
