American star Usher had to cancel at the last minute the first date of his new tour “Past, Present, Future” which was due to start this Wednesday, August 14 in Atlanta, his hometown. The 44-year-old singer cited health reasons, explaining that he needed rest to allow his body to recover. An announcement that surprised and disappointed his many fans, warned only 12 hours before the start of the show.
Usher prioritizes his health to ensure quality services
In a message posted on social media, Usher made a point of apologizing to his audience, while justifying his decision. He explained that he had always been keen to give the best of himself on stage to offer an unforgettable experience to his fans.
However, his current state of health did not allow him to perform the first concert in optimal conditions.
“I don’t want to disappoint you, the fans who have been looking forward to this tour for a long time. I wouldn’t be the stage man I am if I didn’t give you my best”he said sincerely.
A highly anticipated return after the success of his new album and the Super Bowl
The postponement of this first date is all the more frustrating for fans ofUsher that the singer is currently in the midst of an artistic renaissance. After two highly acclaimed residencies in Las Vegas in 2021 and 2023, he released his 9th studio album last February, “Coming Home”which received excellent critical and commercial reception.
Two days after the album’s release, Usher brilliantly ensured the spectacular half-time show of the Super Bowlproving that he was still one of the greatest performers of his generation.
A marathon tour lasting almost a year across the United States and Europe
If this first concert is postponed, Usher intends to honor the dozens of dates planned during this marathon tour which is scheduled to last until April 2025. The artist must first crisscross the United States until the end of November, before flying to the United Kingdom and Europe in spring 2025.
He is notably expected for three shows in London, one in Amsterdam, one in Berlin and one in Paris on April 15, 2025 at theAccor ArenaFrench fans hope that the singer will have recovered by then to offer them an anthology concert, worthy of his immense talent.
